Deborah Kerr played the part of the teacher, Anna Leonowens, in the ONLY film version of THE KING AND I that uses live actors (there is an animated version).

"Anna and the King of Siam" is not a musical. "The King and I" is a musical based on that play/story, so "Anna and the King of Siam" is NOT the original "The King and I". It's simply a different work (and that's one reason they have diferent titles). (BTW... A similar distinction exists between "The Wizard of Oz", The Wonderful Wizard of Oz", and "The Wiz"... Or between "Pygmalion" and "My Fair Lady"...)

The 'original' KING AND I was titled Anna And The King Of Siam, it starred Irene Dunn as the teacher and Rex Harrison as the King. It was made in 1946.
