"nobody makes an I-6"

Ford Australia have always used a 4 litre I6 in locally made RWD Falcon. Currently they use a DOHC model in the following powers:

250HP 282ft/lbs

Turbo'd
320HP 354ft/lbs
350HP 405ft/lbs

I like the I6 very smooth and do produce more torque.
V6 are nice and smooth, but need more revs on board i find to get going.
Flat 6 are awesome though, smooth and love to rev ! Best of the lot, and cost more !

No one makes an I-6, WRONG!

Maybe no American auto maker does anymore because of the FWD and lack of room, but I assure you that quite a few RWD Euro cars still come with I6's.

Straight sixes are smoother than a V6 or V8, and have more torque per cubic inch.

Boxers are the best of all for smoothness. Just ask a Honda Gold Wing rider.

An inline 6 would tend to be "smoother" as far as being subject to less vibration. Though the layout of a boxer engine would have a lower center of weight, giving it an advantage in many performance applications.

depending on the car or truck you have if you haul like a boat all the time it would be a inline 6 ( by the way jeep makes this motor ) because of the torque , a v-6 if you do alot of highway driving and a flat for the speed althou a v-6 is pretty good with the speed to

I'll take a v-8. But if you want a six cylinder, I would go with the V-6, simply due to the reduced space that is required in the engine compartment. This would allow engineers to make a more airodynamic profile for the car, thus translating to both a more efficient and faster car.

nobody makes an I-6.
Smoothness depends on the manufacturer, not so much the alignment. Although... I guess a flat-6 would run more smooth because it's easier to balance.
