No you weren't ripped off.

You bought what was good then.

If you buy a C2D now will you feel ripped of when the next improvement comes along?

It's how computers work they get better all the time. If you always wait for the next great thing you'll never buy anything.

If what you bought works as specified, then you weren't ripped off. If you had waited to buy a core duo 2 Macbook, would you then feel shafted when the core duo 3 is introduced?

Whenever you buy anything that contains technology, a new one with updated features will be available (sometimes at a lower price) in just a few months. If you need it now, buy it. Otherwise you can wait, but whenever you finally buy it, a new version will be out a few months later.

[I own a Jan `06 iMac core duo]
