like religious reasons, im wondering which is betterm id rather wait, but we do it at night.:) anyways thanks, and i do like christmas.

I think its just how some people do Christmas. My family always opens presents after dinner on Christmas eve. Then Santa brings more for the stockings in the morning!

When my sister and I were young enough to assume Santa was a material being, and not a spirit, we used to try to wait up to see him. So of course the presents had to be put under the tree after we finally fell asleep, and so not opened until morning.
Once we were past the stage of expecting a visit from Santa Claus in person, we opened one gift the night before, and the rest in the morning. The one the night before was supposed to bribe us to let our parents sleep later, but it never worked. Well, I suppose they bought as much as an hour that way . . . 7 a.m. instead of six? Or was it 6:30 instead of 5:30? LOL
Since I grew up, not having any children, the whole unwrapping of packages has become a when-they-arrive thing, not a specific event.
Lately I've not even bothered to have a tree.

Individual choice. We always opened all our gifts to each other on Christmas Eve and Santa came and brought some for Christmas am. It was confusing when I was a child, because my friend got everything from Santa on Christmas Eve and mine didn't arrive until Christmas am. We lived only a couple of miles apart . . .

well for my family its because the three wise men came at night to baby Jesus to give him gifts. so as soon as it strikes midnight we open our presents. Some ppl wait until the morning bcuz of tradition in Germany of a man going into homes leaving gifts for the ppl so they would see the next day when they awake. i believe that's where the Santa thing comes into place

Some are excited about their gifts that's why they open it immediately at 12. Some open them in the morning because they may be sleeping at 12mn or they want to feel the "santa rush" children get in the movies where they often open gifts during daytime.

It just depends on your family.
Last year, my boyfriend was so excited he made us open our presents at midnight on Christmas Eve.
This year we had a little more discipline and waited until Christmas morning.
