I've not heard of such a thing, but it makes sense...Keep in mind control of these temporary invaders should be limited to non-chemical means. Aerosol insect sprays are flammable and should NOT, under any circumstances, be sprayed on the Christmas tree. Insects occurring on the tree should be left there until the tree is removed. Any that collect on ceilings, walls, or windows can be eliminated with a vacuum cleaner. It is important to remember that these "critters" are normally found outdoors, on LIVE trees. Warm temperatures, low humidities and lack of appropriate food conditions typical of most homes will usually kill these invaders in a short time.

It's certainly not due to the tree apart from the fact that you might have brought the spiders inside with it, but it's only a chance. Spiders are not harmul at all but kill other insects , flies e.g. Best wishes.

No.

I hate creepy crawlies with a passion but spiders don't bother me unless they're either big or poisonous. I have never once seen any in a real Christmas tree.

It's really possible that you brought in a tree with spiders in it. Spiders kill a lot of bad insects so I have little problem with them. To get rid of them, get rid of the tree.
