Hey Patience,
I trust you are well today.
Happy Holidays.
Well -- let's see. Crossdressing in the sense of drag is actually performed by a very small percentage of gays -- Drag queens are few in number and are actually generally a parody of women, not a duplication of them.
Crossdressing in the sense of people who would like to BE the other gender, or who are long-term transvestites or transsexuals is far more prevalent among straight men than among gay men -- and yes, that means that if they switch gender they end up as lesbians.
The accent is not as prevalent as you may think -- I know more gay men with no accent than with any accent. I'm not sure where it comes from however, though it seems to develop for some whether they are active in the gay community or not.
Gentleness in tone and speech may be more of a sign of homosexuality than "accent" -- and that may well come from a greater propensity among gay males to nurture and to be gentle.
Not bad things, IMHO
Kind thoughts,
Reynolds

Thing is, by saying "most" without any study to back it up, you're still stereotyping. You're assuming that "most" do indeed fit the stereotype. I don't happen to think that's the case, but I haven't done any objective study on it either. "Some" would be appropriate.
As for what I can only assume you're talking about, drag, people do it for a couple different reasons. 1. It's fun. 2. It's fun that you're "not allowed" to have when you're straight. 3. It's subverting gender systems. 4. A social satire on how society sees women. and I'm sure there's more. Those are just some of the reasons I do it sometimes.
NO clue what you're talking about with accent. The only accent I have is that from my geographical locality; everyone here has it.

What accent? A Boston accent like me? Or do you really mean to ask about mannerisms? Camping it up, that sort of thing?
Camp humour is a secret code that we have developed to vent our frustrations and hostilities at being made fun of and asked silly questions about ourselves and what we do in bed. Like who's the top and who's the bottom. Or the assumption that gay men want to suck every str8 guy just because they have a unit, no matter how ugly or repulsive they may be. Get real.
And yes, there are even some gay men who like to wear women's clothes. A lot of them look better than real women and they'd do well to take some fashion advice from the drag queens. But why do they do it? Because it is fun to pretend to be someone you're not. Don't you like playing dress-up at Halloween? Of course you do. Where's the harm in it?

They don't. What you're seeing are only the ones that are noticable. For example, at nearly every gay pride parade I've been to, the "drag queens" are *VASTLY* outnumbered by gay men (and women) who are dressed, well, as men. (Or women, as the case may be.)
You don't see those "normally dressed" men because it doesn't make good television.
Further, the drag queens don't dress in "drag" all the time. It's only for occasions. Almost no drag queens drive around in their get-up all the time.
As far as the "accent" -- as with all accents -- it's generally a product of their surroundings. You're not going to find a german accent suddenly appearing growing up in, say, Atlanta, Georgia. And it isn't "most". It's "some". And again, it's only because that's what you're noticeing.
I know MANY gay men and only a tiny handful fit into the categories you describe above.

I think that is a good question. You don't have to explain why you are curious about something or someone. If they would have read your question, it was well thought out and direct without prejudice.... Now that you ask, I am curious too.
I don't think that anyone has an accent based on their sexual orientation, I believe that culture gave that stigmata and people cling to that so they have an identity (just like someone can fake a southern accent or from another country) It is an attention getter, UNLESS it is a gentic issue.

No one knows. Research shows it could be a lot of things. Some good books to help you come to your own thoughts are: Science of Desire: The Gay Gene and the Biology of Behavior by Dean H. Hamer and Peter Copeland Sexual Behavior in the Human Male by Alfred Charles Kinsey, Wardell B. Pomeroy, Clyde E. Martin There are of course many more out there as well.

as humans grow, they develop habits, ethics, accents, preferences, identities, and many other factors having much to do with physiology and psychology. we do not really outwardly control our voice intonation, as do we not purposely have speech impediments, difficulties with language, lisps, and other characteristics. possibly the ones we like we enhance, but as mentioned above, to say that most gay guys share that feature is too large a generalization.

i dont really know, but perhaps it's from the media, i mean that we see on T.V that guys are attracted to cute girls that are funny and complex, with or without the accent, so as gay guys we try to impress the other guys by imitating to a certain extenet the girly style!!!!!
