Has there ever been a government program that has accomplished its supposed goals? For example, the "war on terror" has created more terror, the "war on drugs" has led to more violent street crrime and a greater variety and potency of available drugs. The "war on poverty" has created more poverty and a permanent welfare class. The war on Iraq, which was supposed to help the people of Itraq, has turned their lives into living hell. Has the government ever instituted a program that did not make things worse for the people that it is supposed to help?

We have used many times the amount of these weapons in Iraq than were used in the Gulf War. If these weapons are the source of Gulf War Syndrome, the success will be measured in the deaths and suffering of not only our Troops, but the entire Iraqi population.

Social Security: before Social Security poverty amongst the elderly was the over 50% and the elderly were the poorest Americans. Now poverty is almost unheard of amongst the over 65% set.

The "war on poverty" actually decreased the poverty rate, btw, but did not eliminate it.
