Ok I'm looking for a new monitor and could use some help. I'm a gamer and like to play games with good graphics such as cnc generals. My target price is around $300. Size is very important and of course quality is too. I've looked on bestbuy, circuit city, overstock, and ebay. So far I think ebay has the best prices. Please rate the monitor I have picked out and give any helpful advice:

KDS K-22MDWB 22" LCD 1680 X 1050 WIDESCREEN 700:1
Price: $303
Display Area (Landscape HxV) 473 mm x 296 mm
Pixel Pitch 0.282 mm
Brightness (cd/m²) 300 cd/m²
Contrast Ratio 700:1
Video Response 2 ms
Display Colors 16.2 M
Bandwidth 146.25 MHz

I'm pretty sure this is a good buy based on size, but am I sacrificing quality in the process? Also if I wait for a few weeks after christmas, will prices go down a lot? on ebay?

Prices don't go down according to holidays on ebay really. Unless somebody is looking to get something for a gift and it's very popular. For what you're looking at, I wouldn't expect it to go down much. It's a good monitor for a good price. I'd buy it.

January is good but you'll buy 06 February the new 07 come in and they crank up the price. So if you want old or new is up to you.

As a rule, the higher the contrast ratio, the better range you'll get in terms of your colours. For playing games, you want the lowest response time you can get to prevent ghosting with fast moving images. Also, for crispness of quality, go for something with the smallest pixel pitch you can.
