My best friend is driving me insane lately. All she can do is complain about stuff... i totally understood at first, but it just goes on and on... i know she's sad, but its like she doesn't even TRY to be happy. I mean, I was having a bad time too, but I didn't even mention it because she wouldn't even HEAR me if I mentioned any of MY problems... We're usually really open to each other and I've been trying to help, but she gets mad when I try and to help, and then she gets mad when i try to leave her alone and NOT help... I mean, whats the DEAL? What does she WANT from me? All she ever talks about is her problems and how evvverrything is wrong, even though she has it better than a lot of people.

Is she like Julia Stiles in "10 Things I Hate About You"? If she is, she needs a good bitchh-slapping, because she sounds like she needs a reality check, especially if she thinks she's the center of the universe.

If she is depressed about something, then that is all she can think of to talk about. Since you are really good friends, next time she starts to complain, just say "Girl, we are going to forget about that for now and not talk about it, it bothers you so much because you think of it all time. Instead of talking about sad stuff, let me cheer you up". Or something along those lines, letting her know you want to change gears. If she doesnt take the hint, try distancing yourself from her a little while. Tell her when you hear her problems, it makes you sad and you want to see the old her.
When you talk to her and she starts complaing, end the conversation. Tell her you will talk to her when she is feeling better.

It sounds like maybe its that bad relationship she is in tainting all the word dark in its shadow. If thats just how she is, I have a friend that would be perfect for her. :-) At least my buddy as sad and mad as he is about everything always listens to what I have to say. My buddy who is like your firend, he is a good friend, I have known for a bunch of years and I have found that what makes us such good friends now is moderation, yes moderation for life. In otherwards, spend less time with her and hopefully she will be happier when she is with you because its a little more special as opposed to an everyday occurance.

G' luck

easy...simpley tell her that you cannot help her, and she will feel this way for a long time, if she doesnt get a reality check and realize that she needs to calm down, and get over problems and herself. By the way you explain things, im guessing you're young, and your problems arne't very huge of a deal that shes making them, tell her that everythign will pass, and she needs to relax

if she doesnt listen to you, than simply ignore her, and if she gets mad at that, tell her why your ignoring her

someone whos that oblivious to their own problems, needs help, and not just a good tlaking to either

so you be the judge of that

have fun!

When she starts telling you her problems, cut her off. Tell her she just needs to get over it and people are tired of hearing about all her problems. If you don't tell her, she will just continue this and if you make her mad by telling her, so what? She will think about what she is doing and she will still be your friend. Her problem is "It's all about me"

It looks like you have got your self into quite a sticky situation. take your friend to a quiet place. just tell her (patiently) to give you a chance to talk. tell her to look at the brighter side of life. tell her that she is one of the lucky ones to have a house and a loving family. there are millions around the world who dont even get their daily bread. so, ask her to stop complaining so much. tell her to be optimistic. her life, she will feel, will become soo much worth living. good luck :)
