what other components do i need other than utorrents to download movies and play them?

You do realise that you may be about to commit a crime if your torrent activity involves copyright material?

With that in mind (don't do anything illegal) you are right to start using torrents by the sound of it.

if you have utorrents(mu-torrents), that, and an active internet connection will do. search for movies in sites like www.torrentz.com or www.piratebay.com and it will tell you to download a small ".torrent" file (a few kb). open that file in utorrent and it will start downloading.

I would think that uTorrent automatically
decompresses files so that you can open them.
(I'm using uTorrent; no problem here).

As to viewing the movies, you need to have the proper
codecs installed in your system to watch certain movie
filetypes (Xvid, Avi, DivX, etc...)

Go to http://www.videohelp.com and look in their
Tools section for codecs programs and installers.

For other movies: if you've downloaded them through
torrent, and they came to you as "ISO" files,
you'll need a program such as ISO Buster.
(I've heard much about it, never tried it)

DivX has free players to watch your movies
(if those movies are "Xvid.avi" files) www.divx.com

To burn those Xvid avi's to dvd, use the program
"Apollo DivX To DVD Converter"

(a cracked version from torrent works).

after you download a torrent file you should be able to play the movie on windows media player. if your looking for a different torrent program, I use BitComet.
