gift the child some cute soft toys that are really cuddly, i think any child will really love it (tho i dont think she'll keep it for her entire lifetime)...
as for the family u can gift them something like a scenic poster fitted in a frame or a painting that they can hang in their living room.. good luck with the shopping.

How about a cute baby photo album. If you cannot find a photo album for babies, you can buy an oridinary one and if you are creative, you can add some characters like winnie-the-pooh or Mickey around the album.

I'm not trying to be mean or stupid...but there's gift recieving on new years? I thought that only happened if it was my grandparents anniversary or some one else or some one's birthday.
