When asking people questions or asking for advice do you want to hear the ideal answer (ie the answer you were hoping to hear), or the realistic answer/solution (probably not what you wanted to hear)?

The most realistic answer but this is subjective and only one person's opinion but why wear rose tinted glasses, best to be upfront and honest :)

I always want the real, but in the ideal way. The truth is preferable, but with tact and consideration for the person's feelings and intelligence level.

The answer I wanted to hear although it be good if you get some other info not that you wanted to know but at least you learned it

When I ask a servious question I am looking for honest constructive answers, not someone to stroke my ego. The truth is the most useful thing.
