Yes there is a mathematical explanation:
x=number you chose
y=year you were born
Case 1 >>> Your b-day has passed
(2x+5)50+1756-y >>> This is all of the operations you do.
=100x+250+1756-y >>> Distribute
=100x+2006-y >>> Combine Like terms
=100x + (2006-y) >>> Group
Case 2 >>> Your b-day hasnt passed
(2x+5)50+1755-y
=100x+250+1755-y
=100x+2005-y
=100x + (2005-y)
As you can see 100x is the first number (5*100 = 500) and either (2006-y) or (2005-y) is the current year subtracted by your b-year.
Reviewing the explanation you can see that this trick only works for the year 2006. Try it as if it was next year and see if it works; I bet it doesnt!

Let x be the initial number you pick, and let y be the year you were born in.
If your birthday's passed, the final 3 digit number will be:
50(2x + 5) + 1756 - y
= 100x + 250 + 1756 - y
= 100x + 2006 - y.
Since the current year is 2006 and your birthday's already passed, we know that 2006 - y is your age.
Similarly, if your birthday hasn't yet passed, we get the final 3 digit number to be 50(2x + 5) + 1755 - y = 100x + 2005 - y. Since in this case your birthday hasn't yet passed, we know that 2005 - y is your age.
So in both cases the final 3 digit number will be 100x + your age. As long as your age is less than 100, this means the first digit will be the number you first chose and the last two digits will be your age.
By the way it won't work unmodified anymore in 2007, you'll have to use 1757 and 1756 for the numbers to add to your birthday :-)

The equation would be:
The 1756 or 1755 minus the year you were born is going to equal -250+y (where y= your age)
x= the number you pick
50(2x+5) + (-250+y) is the euqation so:
=>100x+250-250+y
=>100x+y = and that would equal 100 X the number you picked with your age added to it!

ok, if u add ur date of birth to ur age plus1 it will give the total of 2106 which is 2+5 x 50+ the number they gave u lets say 1756.
so when u subtract the total 2106 from ur date of birth it will give u ur age and the 1 u added to it. and so on with any other number u want to add(2-10) else than 1, so if u add ur date of birth and ur age and 1756 and any number(2-10) u get a total of a number and then u subtract one of the numbers which will be the date of birth from the total u get whats left wich is ur age and infront of it the extra number u picked (2-10)
I hope u get it. good luck.

Let X be the number that you picked.
Multiply it by 2 will give you.....2X
Then add 5 will give you.........2X+5
Multiply by 50......................50 (2X+5)
or 100X + 250
Plus 1756............................ 100X + (250+1756)
or 100X + 2006 (this is the year today)
Minus the year you were born
in my case...............100X + (2006-1978)
Of course! This year minus the year of your birth will give you your age, Thus.....................100X + 28
And the number that you have picked was only multiplied by one hundred. If you picked up 4, that would give you 428.

well,,,X is a number you picked...
(2x+5).50+1756
100x+250+1756
100x+2006
Now,,,When you subtract your birth year,
Result is your age,,,,
Ex: if you was born 1980
100x+26 ...Mean is ,,,if you picked 3,,,300+26=326 ,,,
Got it????
İf this game in 2007,,,,we need add1757 instead of 1756.....
