Divide the first number by the second number, and multiply the result times 100

Example:
3/5 = 3 divided by 5 = .6
.6 * 100 = 60 (60%)

Hope that helps!

according to me, percentage means comparing a certain amount from a total amount by 100.
for example, if you say, 300 apples out of 1200 apples are bad apples, 25% of 1200 apples is bad. thus it means that if 300 out of 1200 apples is bad, 25 out of 100 apples is bad.
thus, finding percentage means finding what will be amount out of 100
therefore, formula of finding percentage is
certain amount(x)/total amount(y) *100
(you can take x as 300 apples and y as 1200 apples to understand , in this case, result will be 25%)
if percentage is given and the amount out of a total amount is not given, then the formula is:
percentage/100*total amount
(here, you can take percentage as 25 and total amount as 1200. result will be 300)
these are the basic formulae with a simple example

Say 5 out of 17 people have blue hair- what percentage of them have blue hair? well. . .

5/17 X 100 yields 29.41%

you can know this works because, say 9 out of 18 have blue hair (this is obviously 1/2 or 50%) then:

9/18 X 100 yields 50%

Hope this helps!
