Well!

I know that I cannot spend it in 24 hours on anything worth the while. I might some rich companies richer by buying things that I would never use.

May be I would realise the futility of my thought. I would try to identify the person or the Trust that would be able to put this money into a perpetual use . Melinda gates comes to my mind. I will give it to the trust she manages.

Sadly, I'd have to spend probably half of it on taxes...but with the rest:

Spend/Invest a good chunk of it on stocks and mutual funds.
Buy a new car
Buy a house/property in San Francisco, New York, Tahoe, and Hawaii
Donate to my high school and university
Donate to a chairty - like a childeren's hospital
Buy a new plasma tv
Buy vacations (airfare and hotel) to Tahiti, Australia, Vietnam, Thailand, Peru, Switzerland, Spain, and Italy
Buy gifts for my parents and siblings and boyfriend

Finally, I'd buy a new car, for the first time.

Everybody in my family would have a house.

I might consider a new flat screen hi-def TV, but I doubt it.

The Salvation Army would have the means to help a lot more people in this town.

i would give half of it away.. and honestly anyone *in my opinion* who says they'd give it all away and not gain anything is a big fat LIAR! anyway back to the point. i would go to the great mall of America find the largest book store and spend half of what I'd have left there then go to Walmart and buy blankets and food for every soup kitchen i could find..i would keep the books until i read them all...still keeping my favorites but giving away the others

At this point in time, I'd buy a house and invest enough to ensure my son's education and my own retirement and build as many homes for the poor victims of Katrina a little south of us.

clear my college debt, get some more advanced degrees, buy a home paid in full. invest a small portion, give to some of my family and the rest to the real charitiys that go in there and make a difference

Because it has to be spent in 24 hours I would do the following:

Pay off all my bills.
Buy a home.
Give the remaining to various charities.

Destroy every luxury car I could take a hammer to. Set my family up for life, give the rest to charity. Be cremated and have my ashes put to the curb like sunday garbage. end of legacy.
