i was watching tyra banks' show one day... yes i was that bored.. anyways... she says just keep auditioning... you'll have higher chances going to auditions than waiting for that 'right' person to see you.. or to win on her modeling show... so just keep auditioning.. keep applying.. and be yourself

You should try watching an episode of Janet Dickenson modelling agency I think it's on style network. Usually people who want to be in modeling get "headshots" pictures of themselves and get into a modelling agency with hard work and a lot of learning they may get picked through clients of these agencies to model.
Sometimes there are "scouts" though that are out and about and are looking for the next best model. They are usually professionals of the industry that know exactly what look will work or not... if they happen to be walking through a mall or getting coffee whatever and see someone who may fit that description they will ask them to come in and meet with the agency thus being discovered.
