I am planning to name my boy Neal/Neil but I don't want to call him Neal/Neil at home too. It would be more of an official name. I was wondering if there is a name short for Neal ( I know Neal is short to begin with) like Nick is short for Nicolas?

I knew a Neal and his name was short for Nealy, and I actually began to call him Nealy affectionately because it was sweet sounding and uncommon. At first I thought Nealy was a nickname but it turned out to be his real name and Neal was just short. Don't know if it gets any shorter!

My father's name is Neal and in his 71 years on this earth no one has thought to call him anything but. Perhaps you should consider finding a middle name you can use for a nickname.

Sorry, there is no short way to put Neil. except N, or Ne, or Nei. But seriously just call your sone Neil at home too.
