Why did you take that class in the first place!

As a band geek myself (I've been playing in band for 10 years starting in elementary school, and now in college), I know how frustrating band class can be. I don't know where you are in your musical training. It's probably a good thing that you are taking your instrument home for break; you should be practicing because going too long without practicing will cause you to lose some of your hard-earned musical skills.

If you experience constant frustration about band, then perhaps it's not the class for you, and that's ok, it's not for everyone. But if your only complaint is that you have to endure people staring at you while you carry your instrument home over break, then don't worry about what they think. You are learning a great discipline which will serve you well if you stick at it. Take it from someone who's been there.

I too, am curious as to why you took band.
Are you doing it for yourself or someone else? If you choose to switch, I think that you better see what else is available to take.
You could get something that you like even less.
You might want to just consider switching to another instrument. When I was in school, I had two years of trumpet before high school, then switched to French horn and found that I really enjoyed it. Playing an instrument requires work at school and at home. To become good. at something you have to practice..
I do hope you reconsider and try to stick to out.
I was never a 'great' musician but I did enjoy being in band.
I learned what it was like to be part of a team. That's a skill you will need to know later in life.

How can you say "stupid Band class", then go home and listen to your favorite songs? Band class will TEACH you how to create YOUR OWN music, so you can learn how to sell rather than buying music.

I think you worry too much about what others think of you. How do you know they aren't staring at what they think is some future great musician? Since WHEN has a look ever hurt anyone?

It's OBVIOUS to me that you really DON'T care about music at all... -You should DROP OUT, and QUIT WASTING the time and effort everyone's spending on you. -You don't deserve the power.

what's wrong with band class? i had to lug home a baritone sax over breaks and yes i got stares, but i never cared. being in band (marching, wind ensemble, jazz) was the sole thing that kept me from dropping out of high school. if you don't like the class, drop it.
