i absolutely recommend The Time Traveler's Wife, by Audrey Niffenegger. It is a love story but has a very interesting twist to it. This is one of my favorite books of all time. I also recommend books my Jodi Picoult, I've read The Pact and Plain Truth, but i've heard her other books are good also. they're what i call realistic fiction books, the description that jodi picoult puts in them are really believable. the pact is about a teen suicide on top of a love stop. And Plain truth is about a murder of a newborn of an amish teenage girl. i hope that u enjoy these books as much as i did!

Some of the best books I have read that I think you might like are:
The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffeneger and Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden are love stories, but not too sappy and are both really, really good and unique.
She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb is about a girl growing up who goes through a lot of bad times, and it is really well written. You won't be able to put it down.
The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold is a sweet, sad story about a girl that dies and then watches her family from heaven.
About a Boy by Nick Hornby is funny! but very different from the movie.

I'm almost finished Haruki Murakami's Sputnik Sweetheart. A guy (the narrator) falls in love with his best friend, an eccentric girl who wants to be a novelist, but she falls in love with an older woman who doesn't fall in with her. The two women travel together to a Greek island and some strange things start happening...
It's a wonderful book, beautifully written by a Japanese writer who's been influenced by numerous American writers. Cool, poetic, deep, mysterious. I recommend it.

I just finished reading Mitch Albom's "For One More Day" last night. I finished it in less than 2 hours because I just got so zoned into the story. He's also the writer of "Tuesdays with Morrie" and "Five People You Meet in Heaven".

I just got Julius Winsome, A Novel by Gerard Donovan (though I don't know if you'll like it)
What else am I reading? Uh... Eudora Welty's "One Writer's Beginnings." If you haven't read it I'd check it out. All of her stuff is great.
Oh, and there's a great (I mean FANTASTIC) anthology of short stories called "You've Got to Read This." (A must-read, and great bc most of the stories are short but breath-taking.)

If you like music and romance and characters you'll fall in love with, try Rehearsal: A Different Drummer. It's long enough that one book should hold you through the break. :-)

I'm reading Lafcadio's Adventures by André Gide. Other than that, I'm rereading James Joyce's Dubliners- a collection of short stories (Araby is my favorite). Have fun!
