I am a skin care therapist and here's what I tell clients, if you use a brush to apply powder, take a water bottle and squirt the top of the brush dont drench but then place brush into powder lightly and apply, essentially you are placing natural mositurizers into your skin with the powder and it helps the powder to last, or you can apply powder as you normally do but purchase a toner that you spray lightly onto your face and it will set your makeup. I use dermalogica products they make a great toner and it protects your skin as well. But I prefer to moisten brush bristles and then place brush on powder and apply. Hope it makes sense.

start moisturizing at night with a gentle but nice lotion. Dove and Avon have very fine products. Don't put lotion on before you apply powder unless you let the lotion dry first.
Also try a better powder if that doesn't work.

Use a hydrating mask before and scrub with a mild exfoliator, then put on moisturiser, I find it a little too oily sometimes, so I always blot either with a tissue or those blotting paper. Then apply your powder.
Exfoliating gets rid of dead skin so the powder will blend into the skin better.
Don't put lotion after powdering, it'll mess up the makeup, and it doesn't make sense anyway.

Try not using powder, or if that doesn't work, use a liquid to powder foundation or vice versa. Also, try lotion pre-powder, so your skin just stays normal.

You need to moisturizer your skin BEFORE you apply powder. Use a moisturizer made for your face with SPF 15 or higher. Be sure to let your moisturizer 'soak in' for at least one minute before applying powder or foundation.

Apply the lotion first let it sit before applying, then make sure you drink lots of water that might help with skin dryness.

always clean your face. always moisturize! put more lotion wherever it cracks more. another thing i like to use is dr. feelgood from benefit. it`s a balm for your face. it feels in the cracks, lines, and pores to give your powder a more even look. you can get it at any benefit counter or sephora store.
