Im from one of three 2014 Winter Olympics candidate cities. More specifically from Sochi, Russia. I really want my city to get the opportunity to host Olympics, and I even do my little propaganda campaign on this in my Sochi blog ( http://www.sochi-travel.info/ ) :o)
But I was wondering, if today was year 2014, say you've had the money and time, which one of the candidate cities you wish was hosting the Olympics? Optionally - why?

Sochi, RUSSIA
Salzburg, AUSTRIA
PyeongChang, S. KOREA

I have reasons to support any of the 3.Let me list these reasons:cities in alphabetical order, like the IOC does it:
Pyeongchang: I have friends in the area; they have the best package for the Paralympic Winter Games
Salzburg:very close geographcally to us, no visa or special requirements needed for us (Romania) which would help our teams to have some support and even our sportsmen to prepare on-site before the Olympics. Also: it's a beautiful city.
Sochi:it's also across the Black Sea for us. It is very interesting and a tribute to human abilities to have the Winter Olympics in what is actually a summer resort. I guess also it's the city which NEEDS it the most (jobs etc.)
Taking your question literally (where would I go), I'd probably only be able to go to Salzburg: no visa problems and close enough. I'd think if I don't win a big lottery till then (which is unlikely since I don't play) it will be too much trouble to go either to Pyeongchang or to Sochi.
Having said that, I salute your promotion effort: it is what a good citizen should do. I wish you the best of luck.

i would definatly go to sochi, russia. mainly because im from Europe and i have family in a city close to sochi. so it would be like a double win. i would get to go to the olympics, and see some of my family that i havent seen in almost 8 years. but thats just me.

Sorry, dude. I would have to vote for Salzburg, mainly for the history etc. You have a cool city, but I think you will need to escalate the promotion to educate folks about the appeal of your wonderful city.

I have always wanted to go to Russia even way back in the 80's when their was much travel restrictions on people going there
