yah, i just got it, and how do u get them to have kids? and also, does anyone elses go MAJORLY slow?? like its def. not my computer, because this is the only game on my computer and below avg. of the memory is used @ this point... is it because of all the stuff and graphics or w.e.? hmm...

Your graphics card might not support the game's requirements. To help the game run smoother, just click the "..." button (options) and under the video panel, turn off any shadows, and if you want you can disable the picture-in-picture and cutscene options. Just play around a bit with the settings until you configure it the way you like it. =)
And there's many ways your sims can make babies. You can either have them use a double bed, a hot tub, or the changing rooms in public places. They don't have to be married or living on the same lot either. Just have their relationship panels up high enough and the "Try for baby" option should come up. In the bed, have your selected sim "relax" there, then click on the potential mother/father sim and ask them to join you. Then click on them again and if their relationship is high enough and they're in love, the "Try for baby" choice should show up. You do that same process for the hot tub. For the changing rooms, have a sim try on clothes and while they're in there, have the other sim join the first one in there. (Btw, the "Try for baby" will only be an option as long as you have opposite sex couples of course. Same sex would need to adopt a baby. Hope this helps. =)

The Sims 2 may go slow for you if you just barely meet the minimum requirements. The graphics and 3D renders do take a lot of work from your memory card, so a lower quality graphics card or an integrated one with little memory would make the Sims 2 run slower compared to those who have a faster memory card.
And to get sims to have kids, they at least have to be in love first. Use a lot of friendly and flirty actions to help them fall in love. Then you have 2 sims relax on a bed (not a single bed, double bed) and you click on the opposite sim and there should be a "woohoo" or "try for baby" option.

you need to "TRY FOR BABY" with a male character to have a baby or you can adopt one for free
