- Many users are not aware of how much RAM is used by a screensaver full of graphics. It runs in the background and eats memory.
- How many programs do you load at startup? Maybe you should check it out and ensure you are running just what you need.
To do this: cl Start, cl Settings, cl Taskbar and Start Menu.
- cl Start Menu, cl Customize, cl Remove.
- cl the icon for the program you wish to remove
- then cl Remove.
- This will prevent the program from loading at startup, but will not remove the program from the hard disk.
- Are you in a large file? If so, save frequently to restore full memory access. (Your work remains in memory until you “save” it to disk.)

1. Did you run an error check? Open My Computer,
Right-cl on C:, Select Properties, Tools – Run an Error Check ( checkmark “check all and fix); then run a Defrag

2. Are you using Yahoo Toolbar? Run a full Norton Antispy.

3. From IE, click Tools, Internet Options
delete cookies
delete files (offline files)
clear history (set days to save to 0 if you want)
click o.k., and Restart

3. click Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools – run Disk Cleanup

4. click Start, Run ipconfig renew (type ipconfig space renew)

All these things should be done regularly. The more frequently they are run, the less time they take.
- Note: Games and videos are mostly graphics. Graphics create large files. If this doesn’t help, you should consider getting more memory.

You can OVERCLOCK your processor to pump up the Gigahertz(Ghz). It can be done through the BIOS but is very risky unless you are skilled enough. Might lead to processor burnout. Do a good search on the net and get a fair idea about overclocking. Only then you proceed.

My 2 thumb of rules that i always maintain for my PC.

1.) Always defragment. Periodically would be better say every friday.

2.) Put less stuffs on your taskbar. Less shortcuts. Cause the windows always have a hicup during startup loading this shortcuts. The less the better.

if you are using a PATA IDE HDD then switch to SATA.
or, add a pair of SATA drives and stripe them together and run all of your additional programs and files from that. and not from the windows partition. your MBoard may have onboard SATA controllers or your can get a pci card.
you can try this now...change your virtual memory (pagefile) to a different drive than the one that windows is loaded on...not just a diff patition(volume) but a volume(partition) on a different drive either the SL drive, not the MASTER (where windows is), or on a HDD connected to an addon controller (PCI).

Getting dirt boost out of the fins on your warmth sink and fan is a sturdy factor. do exactly it with the comp became off and carry the air can in a typical place so which you ward off spraying that "frost" on the motherboard. in case you opt to change the thermal paste with something else, ensure you study for the appropriate technique to achieve this right now. i've got not carried out it in awhile, so i can't be confident what chemical each and every person is ravving approximately right now.

Right click the mouse button on "My Computer" icon on Desktop,
select properties,in the system properties dialogue box select the "Advanced" tab.
In advanced tab click on "Settings" button of "Performance".
In the "performance option" dialogue box select "Adjust for best performance."
This will deffinatly solve your problem.

If u dont like this then try using 3rd party software (Optimizers) like "Advanced System Optimizer" this is the greaest pc optimizer available over the net.

Thanks.

Your processor can be made faster by OVERCLOCKING... here is how you do it "http://www0.epinions.com/cmhd-topic-Overclocking"... also don't be oblivious to the risks... read them before you do it at "www.pcguide.com/opt/oc/risksRisksCPU-c.html "
