Necklace lost color, but trying to bring back. Possible?

I bought a necklace from Claire's and while I was trying to clean it, it started to turn into a copper-ish color. (I used some metal polisher). Is it possible to bring the color back or is it now hopeless and ruined?

It turned because the jewelry from Clair es is just costume jewelry, it probably will not turn back. Save your money and buy something that will last, it will be more expensive but it won't fade or peel.

I think it is ruined. Invest in white or yellow gold.
