That is very sad. Can I assume your teachers never went over geographical data for the United States? Don't feel too bad. Many people think Juneau, Alaska is spelled Juno. By the way, there is a town called Arkansas but pronounced Ar-kansas. I think it's in Texas but I can't remember for sure. It's been about twenty years since I was through there! Old age. Gets you every time!

Why are you telling us? Basically it sounds like you had teachers that don't know how to talk. After all if they teach you about the State they need to learn how to pronounce it themselves.
