Well, those who say Christmas is just another day aren't going to do that, are they? It's not their belief.

yes some people do say that Christmas is just another day and still give respect to the Lord on this day....it makes them seem kinda confused.... but it is nice to have one day to look back on Jesus's birth whether or not it was His real birthday. I guess that is where they are coming from. I hope that answers your question.

(Keeping in mind that I'm a practicing Atheist...)

We gave Him His own day... in fact, we gave Him 52 of them each year.

In the Jewish tradition, it's called the Sabot and (because of some intricacies of the Jewish calendar) it usually falls on a Saturday.

This eventually evolved into the Christian tradition of having mass on Sunday. Technically speaking, and I know I'm going to get emails on this, Sunday is His day off, the day of rest. You really shouldn't bother Him with all your prayers on Sunday during mass...

Seriously, I personally have a hard time even answering the phone on my own day off. How do you think He feels... lol

Firstly, the Lord wasn't born on December 25th. That is a well known fact. If someone tried to celebrate your birthday on the wrong day, wouldn't you tell them they've made a mistake?
Jesus, dies when he was 33 1/2 years old, and was crucified o Nisan 14, around the end of March, early April. So if you go back 33 1/2 years from his death, it takes you to late September or early October, not December 25th.

Secondly, the Bible doesn't say we are to celebrate Jesus' birthday, but it does instructus to keep celebrating his death as a memorial.
Luke 22:19 says; Also, he took a loaf, gave thanks, broke it, and gave it to them, saying: “This means my body which is to be given in YOUR behalf. Keep doing this in remembrance of me.”

See? KEEP DOING THIS IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME! Jesus said that.

Thirdly, when Jesus was born, he was not found by "wise men" in a manger, they were astrologers, and they found him in a house with his family when he was 2 years old.

Also, the celebration of Christmas is known as a pagan ritual because of the factual information surrounding Christ's birth as well as the pagan reasons surrounding the celebration.
The Romans combined the early Christian celebration of Christmas with their celebration of Saturnalia to appeal to Christians who refused to pay homage to Roman gods and holidays.
The Saturnalia, originally a one-day festival in his honor, was later expanded into a seven-day celebration in the latter half of December. The event was marked by great revelry. Gifts, such as waxen fruits and candles, were exchanged, and clay dolls were especially given to the children. During the festival, no punishment was meted out. Schools and courts had a holiday; even war operations were brought to a halt. Slaves exchanged places with their masters and were permitted, without needing to fear punishment, to give free rein to the tongue.

In an effort to gain pagan converts the Roman Catholic clergy in the fourth century after Christ took in this pagan Saturnalia on December 25 and sponsored it as the “mass of Christ” or “Christ-mass.” Christmas, therefore, is nothing more than a carbon copy of the pagan Saturnalia. This is generally admitted by historical and religious scholars. Says a world history, On the Road to Civilization, page 164: “The feast of Saturn, the Saturnalia, was a winter festival which lasted a week beginning on the twenty-fifth day of December, and was celebrated with dancing, the exchanging of gifts, and the burning of candles. The Saturnalia was later taken over by the Christians as their Christmas, and given a new significance.

There's a lot more info regarding 'Christmas', but isn't what I've shown you enough to help you understand as to why I, and others, may choose not to celebrate Christmas?

God Bless and thanks for reading.

You do not have to give it to him. It is already his, as is every day. Merry Christmas!
