There's no relationship between penicillin and narcotic pain relievers. However, it is a terrible idea to take someone else's narcotic medications. You need to sit down, elevate your foot and put an ice bag or frozen bag of peas/veggies on your foot. Do that for 10 minutes every hour or so. Take something like ibuprofen or another anti-inflammatory to relieve your pain. If it continues to hurt so severely that you feel you need a narcotic, go have an x-ray done to see if you broke a bone. Do not take a friend's medication. There's always a possibility you'll be allergic to another substance besides penicillin, and you should be monitored by a doctor if you're going to take such strong meds.

I am not a medical professional or a pharmacist, but I never heard of anyone being allergic to vicodin that was allergic to penicillin. I am allergic to penecillin and took vicodin when I had surgery on my eyes. Vicodin is a pain killer and I believe it's not in the penecillin family. Call your doc or pharmacist to make sure.
I would also get your foot checked out and let your own doc prescibe you some meds. Vicodin is not an antiinflammatory which is probably what you need and you really should not take meds that are not prescribed for you.

Penicillin is an antibiotic and Vicodin is a painkiller. There is no Penicillin in painkillers. It is not a good idea to take someone else's prescribed medication. First you do not know the strength of the medicine or if it is even Vicodin, Secondly you run the risk of someone adding or altering the medication, you never know what people do to their medications. If you have never taken Vicodin, you do not know how you will react to the medication.
I would suggest taking Motrin or Tylenol if you have it before taking the Vicodin.

I say you take the Vicodin either way.
And what's your friend have to do with narcotics? I'd be more worried about her having the pills than the pain.
The pain will fade, you could try taking an Aspirin or Tylenol, but I'd advise Tylenol since it's a load of crap and doesn't help much.
Don't push it with Vicodin, if you're not in much pain, you're going to get high.

No....there is no cross reactivity between PCN allergy and zithromax allergy. They are belong to different class of antibiotics. The penicillins belong to the beta lactam antibiotics while the zithromax belong to the macrolides. You can safely take Zithromax and don't worry about an allergic reaction. You might get stomach pains from zithromax though (side effect).

Yes, you can take Vicodin for pain however, this medication must be prescribed to you by your doctor. While under this medication, you should avoid operating machineries or driving since vicodin can cause drowsiness and take it with meals if you don't want an upset stomach and also increase your water intake and fiber intake as it also causes constipation.

I wouldn't advise taking any medication that isn't yours. You never know if it's something that is safe for you to take. I would seek medical attention. Besides, Vicodin doesn't do anything for swelling. An anti-inflammatory like Motrin will work for both pain and swelling.

Penicillin is an antibiotic. Vicodin is not. You should only take meds that are prescribed to you.

I am allergic to PCN, but I can take Vicadin. The are not related drugs. But a word of advice, you should never take another persons prescription meds. Try an ice pack and Aleve for your foot, if no better, see a doctor.
