The first, and last, time I had something from Subway, it was horrible. I can't remember what the name of the roll was, but it had this chicken fillet, and it was in a combo. Altogether, it costed something like $8.90, can't remember the exact price, but i remember thinking it was a rip-off.
The ads all say it's fresh, freshly grilled this, blah blah blah, but I saw them MICROWAVING my chicken fillet straight from the fridge! You call that fresh??! And what I got was a measly 6 inch roll, a small drink and some cookie that's probably been left in the container for a week or so. Overall i was not a happy customer. Who else thinks Subway is overrated or have had bad experiences with the food or services? I don't know if the NZ Subway is different to the rest of the worlds', but microwaving food sure ain't what I'd consider as "fresh".

I hate Subway. I used to work there, and they are so cheap they only want you to put 3 olive slices on a 6" sandwich. They skimp on all the food. And it doesn't taste that great in the first place. For the prices they charge, they should load it up! Screw them!

here's my worst subway experience.
In Hawaii, HORRIBLE wind storms, and the town of Haleiwa is trapped because roads on either side are closed due to downed telephone poles.
My friend Laurie and I are trapped there trying to get to a meeting.
At first, the town is out of electricity, and everything is closed. When it opens, all the restaurants are backed up. We wait more than an hour at subway for a "wrap", which costs $6 and has maybe an ounce of meat in it. Also it's supposed to be hot and just to be safe, they're refusing to heat anything.
That's my general impression even when weather can't be blamed. I do think they improved with the quiznos-style oven-roasted sandwiches, but I'd take Quiznos ANY time for subs, and McDonald's ANY time for salads over subway.

I have been extremelt disappointed by subway, there's practically nothing in it... I've actually seen them measure out the toppings and they count the meatballs they put on the sandwiches (3 for a six inch). I definetely prefer quiznos, but usually I go for a local sandwich shop... they tend to be a little bit better (at least where I live) They cost about the same and the quality is much higher.

Quizons and Subway are both overrated. Although Quiznos does put meat on their subs, it is under about 6 inches think bread, and it's litle too much bread for a sub. Jimmy Johns is ok, but doesnt have that pazazz in in their meats.
Now if your looking for an underrateed sub placed, its Charley's Steakery. They cook your food right in front of you and load your subs with meat. Also, their fries are todie for. They offer chips and cookies though I believe. I don't think their everywhere, but their re tons in the mall food courts acrooss Michigan, particualry SE Michigan.

It seems like everyone who has answered is from the US. Well, we have Subway in the UK and it sucks here too. I've been in 3 or 4 of them (they are all owned by different franchisees) and they all smell the same, nasty and greasy. They are really expensive for what's basically a sandwich and the fillings are not that fresh or tasty. Rubbish!

I can't stand Subway!!! I've had much more better subs than those! I've given them time & time again, but everytime I walk into one of the shops, it smells like bad mayonaisse! Then I walk out...it's disgusting. My area has Jreck subs & I love them!!! Pizza Hut has a chicken sub too! that I like! though it's not really worth the price. So, I'll stick to Jrecks.
Thnx for the question!

The Subway where I live is awesome. They always give me lots of toppings and the chicken definitely doesn't come out of the refrigerator.
Sounds like your Subway sucks.

I agree! My daughter used to love Subway, but even she eventually converted. For about the same price, Quizno's and Blimpie's are a great deal better.
