Not the eBay but some of the bad buyers and sellers. I have bought some items and tried to sell some on eBays for a couple years, I was scammed by a couple sellers and learned from it. Don't buy expensive items from eBay if you cannot afford to lose the money, start out with some cheaper items first to get some experience, read the feedback etc... it helps.

I had an experience different than most people. I GOT SCAMED. I sold a truck on ebay that cost money I didn't have. I never received anything from the bid sale. Thus pure cost without benefit. Ebay simply ended the boggus account of the person who purchased it, but never returned my money. Thus, I was SCAMED by ebay.

I sold my truck which was in mint condition by putting a sign in the window and parking on a corner lot for a lot more money than the bid anyway. My advice is be careful since there are people who will scam you. If you can find a better way to buy or sell than ebay, then do it.

Watch out for people who want to buy your $1,000 item for $50,000 and have you send them back the extra $49,000. At the best, this is money laundering.

They will pay with a very good looking certified check, but after you've sent them your real money, your bank will inform you that the check you tried to deposit was a fake. Bam! Now you lost your $1,000 item and $49,000 cash.
