Yeah, hot water would open pores. Especially if you're taking a shower, the steam from the hot water would open them. There's also a warming face wash by Neutrogena that opens pores.

Hot or warm water opens the pores. I can remember when I was a kid, my mother use to wash my hair and that last dose of water she poured over my head was always ice cold. She said it was to close the pores. Yeah right Mom. I think it was revenge.

Your thoughts are correct Chan 72 - Hot water makes your skin soft and will open pores. Cold water 'seals' the pores.
A suggestion, even in the shower, I've heard and adapted this method to prevent body sweat:
After a nice warm/hot shower (especially to your arm pits), rinse with cold water, as cold as you can take it, especially on your arm pits. This closes all open pores and substantially decreases body sweat and eliminates B.O. (body odor).

Hot water opens the pores of your skin. Cold water causes them to close thus making goose pimples.

The pores open more as the body gets warmer.
When the pores are open you lose moisture.
This helps the body to cool down or a least not over heat.
As the body cools down the pores close to slow down heat lose.

Hot. If you really want to open them, then I recommend filling your sink with steaming hot water, and then bend over and let the steam open your pores.

Hot water does open pores. I always rinse my conditioner from my hair with as cool water as I can handle.
