It's a load of bull from people who have no idea what they're talking about. Mostly, it's from the youth of Europe, who have never actually seen the happenings of WWII and who are far too ignorant to actually grow some feelings and read a history book on how Hitler ruthlessly and deliberately massacred millions of people because apparently they were "imperfect".

Being an American is an idea, which anyone can be. Being an American means to believe in hard work, that everyone is equal regardless of religion, race, or creed. America was the land of the misfits. We accepted people that had no place in their home countries. America said, "HEY! I don't care about where you come from or who you are. YOU can make something of yourself if you work hard enough. We won't care about your social class, or race, or religion." Even though we have not always reflected that belief, that is the foundation of the idea of America.
I am proud to be an American. I am never ashamed to be an American for I believe in the ideas of being an American. I am UPSET and ANGRY at our political leadership for showing tremendous hubris and not taking to account its people and abusing the friendships of other countries. The leadership in this country will change shortly, hopefully for the better. I won't go to a foreign country and claim to be "Canadian". I like to figure that other nationalities are smart enough to separate our government from the people themselves.

You neglected to factor in the current reality of the marketplace: newspaper publishing is a highly competitive industry and the pie keeps on getting smaller. Increasingly, readers are getting their news from the internet (where many newspapers the world over are online anyway). The Washington Post, for instance used to be available free online but now you need to be a subscriber. I think "free" was just not so cost-effective...
In short, don't undermine the importance of headlines and scoops and selling a PRODUCT to paying CUSTOMERS to make MONEY.
Just wanted to add that commentaries such as "“Most of EU are islamic morons… Screw them… they are morons… PROUD AMERICAN, we are helping the world, just like always…” draw attention to the author (as a buffoon who clearly has never visited Europe) but more dangerously they reflect negatively on Americans as a whole by reducing to the level of caricature. How can anyone who reads claptrap like this come away with a favourable opinion of Americans? The more claptrap like this is written and published by Americans the more awful Americans look to others: jingoistic, arrogant, uneducated, prejudiced, unworldly, immature, xenophobic, paranoid, obcessive, narcissistic... exactly the words that come to mind when you think of Adolf Hitler. This is where stereotypes of Americans originate in the first damn place...

First of all I don't think it's a fair comparison, Bush has yet to declare a "final solution", or even begin to cause atrocities like those of Hitler. In many foreign countries Bush's actions and policies have been dubbed "Evil", but in no way is he as Evil as Hitler, or the other ringleaders of the numerous genocides that have plagued our world. Its unfortunate that many people equate our leaders (Bush in particular) and their ideology, with that of the whole United States of America. As a proud American, I am quite disappointed when people say they hate America because of Bush, or his politics; even when they eat up American Culture. If you hate America so much don't be Cultural posers, Or realize that it's not the Country you hate it's the Actions of one delusional individual. it's also a shame that many Citizens of the US complain about Bush even-though they chose not to vote, and if you didn't exercise your Right to Vote you have no Right to complain.
*This message is in no way, shape, or form approving of President Bush and his International policies

The French were still debating and waiting for more evidence that Hitler was a threat to Europe when the Nazis came marching into Paris. They didn't learn a damned thing from that experience.
What else would you expect from countries that passively accept the indiscriminate murder and terror perpetrated by the Islamic terrorists?
As far as what I think - I couldn't care less what they write in their press. (I've read numerous articles in the AFP and they make the American media look like a commercial for the far right.)
Although I haven't seen any Bush/Hitler comparisons as yet, I don't doubt the validity of your question in the least.

The same people who were behind Hitler are behind Bush. Preston Bush was one of the financial backers of Nazi Germany. They have used the same playbook. Burn the Reichstag and blame it on the commies, clamp down on the citizens to protect them from the threat, invade other countries for plunder, antagonize the world, genocide, etc. etc. Europeans have seen this painfully up close before. The US is just finding out and is still in denial. Those who don't listen to criticism will suffer for it. It means what they say could be true. We can only care if we listen. Only the House and Senate can do anything legally, so first we will have to wait and see if they love their country or not.

US-bashing has been a popular sport. It comes with being a superpower. And we're used to bailing out the ungrateful.

I am an American, and I am ashamed of our president. After the attack of 9/11, he had the support, and sympathy of every American, and most of the world. In five years, he has managed to squander that goodwill in the pursuit of his petty political objectives.
He is the least qualified, and most small minded president of the United States of my lifetime, and I'm 56. He'd probably be a good Sunday school teacher, president of the Crawford, Texas chamber of commerce, and a hardware store owner, but he's not cut out to be president.
Sorry world. At least I didn't vote for him.

Bush started the war when it was not evident Iraq was a clear threat to the USA, even if they had WMD, (Weapons of Mass Destruction). Hitler started wars. Bush and his administration denyed prisoners Geneva Convention rights, even Hitler did not do that. Bush , Cheney, Rumsfeld, et al have lied to us about the progress of the war. Hitler was a liar. We have turned the majority of Iraqs citizens against us. Hitler did the same in countries he invaded. I disagreed with this war before it started. I hope we win, though I think it is too late. I am a Vietnam

I think alot of that is from the people both here at home and abroad who thrive on the press that ridicule our country and our President. He has uncovered France,Germany and Russia's involvement with the oil for food scandel and thats one of the main reasons their leaders have hated us.Along with the united nations and this is why they didnt want us to get rid of Sadam.I could careless what other countries think,we will always be the lone wolf..,us and Israel but we need to remember that when they start reaching for the handouts when a disaster hits.
