my laptop has a 40gb hardrive which is nearly full i want to put in a 120gb. How do i get everything off my 40gb onto the 120gb i dont have a windows cd either .so i need to somehow transfer it is this possible. and what do i need .Thanks

Norton Ghost will do it. but first you will need to format the new drive by plugging it in to an external harddrive case of some description(so many types) use the software to transfer/clone the OS and all the files you want. then make sure the drive is set to master(MS)on the back of it and then put it in. you can use your old drive in the external case as a back up drive or storage.

Have you given any thought to a portable hard drive? That may be an easier, cheaper and better way to go now that portable hard drives are getting pretty big and at an affordable price.

you would need to make a ghost copy of your partition, and save that file externally. then install your new drive and make a partiition thats just a bit bigger than the one you ghosted. Then re-apply the ghost copy to your new partition on the new HDD.

did you check and see if the drive is compatible with your laptop make and model?
