try Atmosphere. Slug's songs sound more like frustrated poetry than anything, and it's wonderful. Seven's Travels is a great album.

the Smiths is an excellent choice in general.

for something cheesy, Depeche Mode?

the Pixies are fairly alternative, but good through and through.

but that is, if you're looking for some mainstream teenybopper bands, listen to Green Day and Underoath and 30 Seconds to Mars and all that sh!t.

Now my basic question - in what basic TYPE of music are you genuinely interested? Pop, Jazz, Classical, Country, International, Fusion....?

Then I can suggest what I THINK are "good "or even "excellent" pieces!

Then, no guarantee that you too will like my suggested selections!
