well i do feel you, i too always blow almost all my money (except a measly $15 which i force into my savings account for bigger ticket purchases I would never otherwise be able to afford).

I probably blow mine different than the next person (usally its on somewhat expensive cigars ($18 for a pack of 10, and another pack I like which is $16 for 10), absolut 100 vodka, the occasional $15 to $25 blackjack hands at the casino, the ocassional $5 or $10 lottery ticket, crossword puzzle, hot cashews and boiled peanuts from the convenience store, whole bean coffee, cell phone minutes, the occasional 'something i see that someone else would have to have gift', among random other odds and ends i dont really need but can't get out of the habit of buying type stuff.

however once again, try saving from each paycheck. i only make $5.65 an hr as a cashier, yet i absolutely refuse to not have nice things. for example these are some of the things i have which most people at my $/hr wouldn't bother with or would consider 'only for rich people': an extremely nice lambskin leather jacket, platinum AT cross pen, a $300 fixed blade knife, silver and gold chains, and a nice home stereo system. These are the things i dont yet have but am looking foward to getting: car stereo system, pewter chess set, diamond accented sterling silver watch (might take awhile :)), and some incense and random 'smoke shop' type merchandise.

anyway heres an old saying, 'if theres a will, theres a way'.

apply that to your life.

maybe a most important piece of advice is, even if you dont feel like going to college and getting a degree and such, just go get a certificate. these take anywhere from 2 to 8 quarters but are more targeted to a particular career unlike a more general degree. you won't make as much most likely as with a degree, but will be able to afford the things you want and occasional gifts you just have to get for others.

in a while, i'll be going to community college pursuing an associate degree in biology, which i plan on transferring to a 4 year college to obtain a bachelors degree in biology. but at the same time, i'm going to continue working as a cashier to get all the things i want too

Find a job like mine where you can work as much or as little as you want. I have a sales job that i work 4 hours per week and make about $1000.00 It is a well known product, but you do have to be willing to get out there and be self- motivated. There is free company training and you can get training from your computer. I know people in our organiztion that make $3-6,000 monthly. I'm just limited to the time I can commit right now or I would definitely be making more!!

Randy D got it right. You're probably broke because you spend too much on things you want as opposed to need. Something for nothing is a pipedream. If you want more money you need to work more. Not less. Learn how to save more. It's not hard. Above all don't expect to get money easily. Anything good is hard to get.

It's real simple. Unless you follow hugh_jorgen2002's answer and become a government worker (and I've had personal experience at that), you can do the more "tried-and-true" method which is - get the idea of "getting-something-for-nothing" out of your head and spend more of your energy working for a living and making something good out of yourself, and the money will fall in place. Trust me on this one, and don't turn out a lazy slob. Being watchful on how you spend your money is also a great idea. The classic phrase "You get what you pay for and you pay for what you get" is very appropo here. God Bless you.

There really isn't anyway to make money without working. Sorry, but if you will work smarter that may help. I think you will find that if you start doing something you like, it won't seem like work. Then save your money by living on less than you earn. Invest that and never spend it. You will soon be rich.

invent the next "pet-rock" or "jump-to-conclusions mat". even then though, marketing, accounting for, and financing the endeavour will prove challenging. google's founders didn't find their way to where they are with only a great idea.

unless you want to look at illegal work (which too can prove challenging), there's no free lunch out there. sorry.
