I have got a mackie mixer dfx 12 and it is hooked up to powered JBL speakers/ The room is rather small to practice in but it has this ungodly hum and it is loud. I have tried grounding it with a three prong plug like a friend said. It won't work. Please help.

Turn all of the channels down and one by one turn each one up until you hear the noise. that way you will narrow it down to one channel or cord. If not that, check the speaker cables and the monitors. May also be that the power in the old house isnt grounded properly, so three prong plug wont help if the problem is within the houses main ground. Only the mixer does it? I bought a brand new Mackie and channel 2's mike pre made a horrid crunchy noise from day one. I have come to love Behringer gear for the low price and quality which = value.

are several things that can cause it from a bad cable to a weak sodler joint or the wiring where you practice at did it just start or is it only at that one location new gear or old gear
