First of all you probably mean red giant, not red dwarf. When the sun expands to this stage it might totally engulf Earth. If not, at least the oceans will boil away, the atmosphere will be torn away, and all life on our planet will be completely wiped out. There will be nothing left but an absolutely barren world. Next the sun will shrink into its final stage, a white dwarf star.
BTW...someone answered that the sun would go nova. This is NOT true.

Since you said dwarf, that's assuming that the sun changes properties. I don't think the sun will ever be a red dwarf, but a red giant, yes. Being a red dwarf, Earth will become a ball of ice. Being a red giant, the size of the sun would have consumed Earth and burned it to a crisp.

First of all it's a RED GIANT not red dwarf.
Secondly, don't worry, you won't be here to see it.
Long before, the levels of UV will increase to a point all life on Earth will perish. The planet will be sterilized!
After that slowly over thouthands of years it will get hotter and hotter, the seas will evaporate to space leaving only a ball of dirt.
At the end the sun will expand to the orbit of the Earth and everything will melt.
Like I said... Don't worry we will be long gone!

Because of the group our star belongs to we know that the Sun will first expand into a super red giant. This will of course engulf us and the earth will be gone. The Sun will then puff off its outer layers and become a white dwarf. ~A~

Who's to say there will still be a n Earth 4 billion years from now? At least humans probably wouldn't exist. Global warming and out thirst for technology will kill us way before that, along with all the toxins that we put into our bodies..
