That is a dumb question.
1. Warne hasn't had the chance to bowl on spinner friendly wickets as often as Murali.
2. Unlike Murali, Warne CAN bat and CAN field.
3. Warne has a likeable personality.
4. Succesful leg spinners do not come around very often.
5. Murali's action is illegal.
6. Warne is part of a succesful team, unlike Murali who, apart from Sangakkara and Jayasuria, pretty much carries the team.
So, it is pretty obvious why Warne is so highly rated.

Warne is rated higher because his wickets have been taken against first class opposition NOT second raters like Bangladesh and Zimbabwe AND the most important reason Warne is a thinking bowler, always looking to exploit a weakness in the batsmen while Murali is JUST A CHUCKER!

According to me and bsed on statistics, Muralitharn is a better bowler than Warne as he got better average and economy rate than Warne. Further his performance in ODI is much better than Warne and he has taken much more wickets inODI than Warne. Even in Test Match if Muralitharan has played the same number of Test Mtches Warne has played, he could have taken more wickets than Warne.

I think warne is great bowler one of the best of our time. But that is not in dispute here .
for those of you bashing murali and second rate opposition..last i checked warne's record against any asian team is rather mediocre. Let me refresh you with warne's 112 run for no wickets in the first innings in a spinner friendly pitch against the supposed second rate team Bangladesh. as for not playing in enough spinner friendly pitches, well that is just untrue. Australian pitches are quite suitable for leggies due to their bounce, that is one of the primary aspect of bowling leg spin. Hence the rise of ritchie benaud and warne.
I think this lack of common sense is quite common among the aussies. As for being a better role model, only an aussie would find someone who cheats on his wife, constantly, smokes while preaching about non smoking, takes bribes from the bookies, and gets banned for taking drugs a role model. Correct me if i am wrong factually. Don;t make things up, just because you can type.

From his pie-eating to his infedelities, everyone loves a bit of warney. but aside from his supier batting/fielding and his awesome off field antics, he is a much better bowler.
He is a lot more consistent, putting the ball on the spot nearly every. Also he has a lot more variation than murali. All murali has are his standard off breakers and the doosra. Warne has his standard leg breakers, his leg breakers that rip off the pitch, the flipper, wrong-un, googly, you name it: he can do it.

Because Warne is from Australia and Murali is from Sri lanka..very simple!!.......I m sure if Murali had be Australian,he would have been rated even more higher than warne because no doubt he is better than Warny !!!

We asians are always underestimated.
There are 2 instances of proof.
1. When Brett Lee bowled at 160km/h he wasn't questioned but when Shoaib did he was banned.
2. When Shane WArne was supassed by Murli in wickets in TEst he was adjudged a chuker.
