Ships of Heaven by Blackhawk. It was on their Greatest Hits CD and written by Van Stephenson when he was dying of cancer.
Oh and to Partygirl the video to What hurts the most does use it as the guy dying. Although personally I don't care for the song it could be taken as dying after a fight or something.

When I read your question,the first song that came to mind was
"Friends" By Michael W Smith
I got a CD for Christmas called "Girls of Grace" It has some songs by Point of Grace and some other female singers on it that I think you both might find encouraging.

A favorite of mine is Over the rainbow and it is by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole- very sweet and slow song that makes you think of yesterday and all of what u have and the unknown!- if u can not find it let me know and I will send it to you~!
