A century ago people were shorter than they are today. From the numbers I've seen, the increase among women (who used to average 5' 2" just 30 years ago, and 5' 4" a decade ago, but now are over 5' 5") is happening faster than that among men (5' 7" 30 years ago, 5' 8" a decade ago and a bit over 5' 8" now).

Is it possible that, in North America and Europe, in a few generations, women will be as tall as men?

That is a possibility that women are growing taller than the men. You never know. However, it also all depends on the women parents height. it both parents are over 6 feet, then ofcourse the daughter id goin to be tall, but if one parent is 5 foor 6 and the other 5 foot 7, then chances are that she's going to be taller than one of them, or perhaps both.

But that would be cool one day living in a world where all men and women were the same height.

Its all about nutrition if women are an average of 5-8 men will be average of 6-2. some women are just tall and bony even if a guy is 5-9 he will still be much stronger.

I certainly see a lot more very tall young women around... but I also see a lot more really obese young people around... more than I did when I was young. I believe that nutrition has a lot to do with it... perhaps, as they say, hormones in meat and milk and eggs, too, might contribute to bigger women? The question is: are we healthier than our little grandparents were? Seems not.

Also, there are some who say that Adam and Eve were giants and as "the race" (i.e., of mankind) degenerated, the height and number of years in a lifespan declined. We'll know when we get to Heaven and meet those early peoples.

In view that women go through puberty first. The body is set to have as many kids as they would, but only for a short length of their lifestyles. They probably will discontinue having babies around the age of 35-forty. So thats why they begin puberty earlier. Additionally, I feel its their mind of nature. Guys are built to pass their sperm (if you are going to), but females are built to nurture. So I feel that the maturity level is greater for females (or pre-teens) considering their bodies are starting the critical precautions for the female to have infants--with out that greater sense of maturity, they man or woman is not going to be equipped to maintain their offspring. Of path, in our world, theres SO many exceptions... Just watch 16 and pregnant :
