Not just in the Nash-Stoudemire era, but for the rest of eternity?

Honest opinions only please, after taking into account how they've played since 1968 and their two NBA Finals appearances (in 1976 and 1993, losing to the Celtics and Bulls, respectively).

The franchise as a whole, not just the current era, but the franchise 10, 20, 30 even 40 years down the road...still 0 NBA titles?

It's hard to comment far in advance but even though I love watching the Suns play, I can't see them winning it all with the team that they have right now. Their biggest problem is to be able to win a championship, you have to be able to dig in and get a stop every now and then. Their loss in overtime last Friday against the Wizards depicted their problem exactly. They just had no answer for Arenas.

Also I'd say the Suns still rely too much on the perimeter game. They're not using Amare Stoudemire in the offense as much as they did 2 years although hopefully they will incoporate him more as he gets healthier. Otherwise you live with the 3 pointer, you die with the 3-pointer. Also when coaches have time to prepare in a 7 game series, it's much harder to get easy fast break points. I love Shawn Marion, he's unselfish, and he always runs the floor, but notice how in their past 2 playoff series losses, he has completely disappeared. Yeah, that's the fast-break effect.

For the record, I would say that the Spurs are the team to beat with the Mavs a close second (they actually play some D now that Avery Johnson is the coach as opposed to when they had Nellie) and the Suns a distant third. Hope this answers your question.

Kevin

short answer isn't any. One, nonetheless it somewhat is a sturdy kit, there is not any assure the two group could do the commerce (nonetheless i think of they could and could). additionally via shifting Marion, they lose there terrific rebounder and nonetheless Durant is a suitable tier college rebounder, will it translate to the subsequent point? additionally, why no longer shop the 5th %. and grab an athletic enormous in the mildew of Brandon Wright if he leaves? in actuality, then they could finally be observing a lineup of Nash, Bell, Marion (shifting all the way down to SF), Wright, Stoudemire. they could honestly sparkling the glass and run like mad men. Then the Suns could kit their 2 thoughts previous due first around thoughts for a prior due previous due lottery %. like 12-13 or in line with threat 15-sixteen basically exterior the lottery and seem to function a PG for intensity in the back of Nash.

No way, of course they can...their best chances came really a few years ago before Amare went out but they are playing great this year. They are definitely contenders again this year to win the title. But they face a tough Western Conference this year, so it won't be easy.

They have a chance to win a title this year. If they will just avoid the injuries, yes they have a big chance.

I think they will win a title, but they have to get better defense, and I agree with Kevin, they need to do better inside. If they can overcome these problems they would be undefeatable!
