I have been on the Pill for a bit over 2 months. I stopped taking the active pill a day after a sexual encounter with my boyfriend. Usually I get my period the next day - however, it has been 2 days now and not a drop of period. Could I be pregnant? I'm only a teenager. I am really scared. My parents don't know about my relationship with my bf - although we are really commited to eachother we aren't ready to be parents so soon. Please help.

It is possible to get pregnant while on the pill since no birth control method is completely 100%. But, if you recently started the pill, or stopped the active pills too soon, your hormones could be messed up so your period is late. And even though it's not common, an increase in sexual activity can throw your cycle off.

Wait about a week, and try an at-home pregnancy test. Or you could go to your local Planned Parenthood for a blood test. I know it's nerve wracking (I've been there!), but hang in there. And keep taking the pill until you get a confirmation of pregnancy.

Good luck!

Ouch... you really shouldn't have stopped taking the active pill a day after having sexual relations...

Used properly the pill is like 99.9% effective, when used improperly (like most women do) its effectiveness drops off dramatically - as many as 10% or more of women using the pill get pregnant because of misuse.

Get a home pregnancy test in a week or so and test.

For now the best you can do is wait and hope your period comes soon.

On a positive note - high stress messes with the menstrual cycle, and you sound very scared and stressed out... that might delay your period, or even make you skip...

So try to calm down, a few days late happens to all women at some time or another... the more relaxed you are the better.

And get BACK on the pills, taking them daily as prescribed. Never stop unless you have decided to stop having sex, or if you are switching to another form of birth control.

Odds are you're going to be fine - if you're not a week from now - post, or email or IM one of us here that's given you good advice and we can try to help you from there.

My IM, 360 and email are all listed in my profile - I've helped women in this situation before... no judgments, just help, all the choices are yours to make.

There is a small chance of you being pregnant. Yet if you have been takin the pill on a regular basis and have not missed any other day than the one you mentioned chances are that you are not pregnant and you period is probably just running behind especially if you just got on birthcontrol. You may be having some hormone changes in youir body that may have caused a delay on your menestraul cycle.

Personal experience...been on the pill, and been off of it. It's a wonterful thing that it can be tracked because of it. But.......when you get off of the pill, it is not regular as it was. If you miss a few days of your period, doesnt mean you are preg. Plus you said you havent been on it long. hmmmm if you dont get it within 2 months then take a test.

Of course. No form of birth control is 100% perfect.
You probably arent.....but it can happen. Just because you are on the pill or using other birth control doesnt mean you are safe.
Hope im not worrying you, just trying to help.

while it is unlikely yes you could be pregnant. if you don't get your period within a couple of days or week you should go get a test and go from there. good luck i hope it all works out for you.
