Are you asking about the case of Granville v. Troxel, decided first by the state's supreme court and then affirmed by the U.S. Supreme Court?

That was a case about the legal rights of grandparents to have visitation rights with their grandchildren. Both the state supreme court and the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that a state law granting visitation rights to (in that case) grandparents violated the right of the parents of the children to raise their children in their own way.

Don't know, specifically, but a good source of information would the state chapter of the American Bar Association in your area, and/or your Lieutenant Governor's office.

Also, there was a recent 10th Circuit decision that is considered precedent-setting, that granted more rights to grandparents than those that existed previously.....

Sorry I couldn't be of more help to you. Good luck.

Are you referring to what they call "Grandfather Rights?" That is where, if you were in a certain business before a law or regulation was passed, in many cases you don't have to abide or conform to that law. For example: you are a psychological counselor with only a Bachelor's Degree in Psych, and have been practicing for five years. Then, this year, the State of Washington passes a law that says in order to practice counseling you must have a PhD. Well, you would be exempt from having to get your PhD since you have been in business before passage of the law. Thus, they would "Grandfather" you in. But I, on the other hand, would have to get the PhD in order to open my practice next year.
