You should make an appointment with your doctor or a podiatrist. If soaking hasn't helped by now, it isn't going to. Also "poking" is a very bad idea. You need to be seen by a professional.
Are your tetanus shots up to date? Not to scare you, but in my days as an ICU nurse, I cared for 2 patients who got lockjaw (tetanus), both from rose thorns. You're past the incubation period, so won't be affected, but it's a reminder to keep up with your vaccinations and boosters. Anyone who hasn't had a tetanus shot in the past 10 years needs to make an appointment with their doc and get one.

most likely it has nothing to do with the rose thorn because that happened 6 months ago. skin cells multiply quickly and if part of the thorn was still there your skin would have healed and (if thorn parts remained) encountered problems long ago.
if there is no other explainable cause; you haven't stepped on anything else or anything, then it could be an infection. whether it was from the rose thorn and just took a long time coming or not, an infection needs medical attention and you should schedule a doc appt. good luck!

apply Elmer's glue to site where you believe thorn to be stuck, be sure it is a relatively thick layer. let dry completely, then gently pull off skin. The thorn should then be stuck in the dried glue. If that does not work i would recommend seeing a podiatrist or your doctor, This method also works good for slivers.
Good luck Imma

could be. place some tobacco or some black salve to draw out the thorn. you may have to soak it in some Epsom salt. you have so much tissue that has covered the thorn that you may have to open it more. or go to you doctor to have him deaden and remove. be careful if u do it yourself and apply some antibiotic cream afterwards.

There may be something in there. Or you may have an infected callous (yes, there are such things, I had one years ago).
You may have to throw in the towel on self-doctoring and get to a real doctor if it won't go away.

Try putting a little drop of super glue in the area and if there is anything there it will come out.
