IPOD is a player, a device that only plays songs...just like your MP3,but it comes with a bigger capasity..
while, an MP4 is a device that plays songs together with the video clip..
it means that you can watch the video clip on the small screen of the MP4..

an mp4 ONLY plays mp4 files and it can play videos.. but u cant expect to use itunes for that and mp4 files arent that common. ipods play mp3 files and its more common.. if u want to watch videos, then get a video ipod.

I suppose you mean an mp3? And iPod is merely a type of mp3 player, with other fancy little features added.
