Sit it. It's better, so that if ever it is bumped on hard accidentally it won't fall down crashing. And it also prevents cd damage due to falling CDs, as far as i know. Wow man, you're rich.

I would say stand if it is on carpet. Carpet keeps the heat around your ps3. As you know the ps3 can get real hot and on carpet theres no place the heat can go, other than that it doesn't matter it will work the same.

Place your PS3 in a horizontal position. It's a pretty big and expensive piece of equipment, you really don't want to accidentally knock it down.

Sit it. Otherwise the disk is in mid air when you insert it and has more chance of moving and therefore damaging the disk due to gravity.

Either one works because it is designed to sit vertically or horizontally by the manufacturer.
