I received this message just now from someone who asked a question about PMS. Her premise was that only 5% of the women experience it and that it was a proven fact because her professor told her so. So she wanted to know why so many women fake PMS. I then did research on it and proved that she had her facts wrong. Either she misheard her professor or her professor got it wrong, and that the correct problem was PMDD, a very rare and disturbing form of PMS. I followed it up with links to websites. She sent me the email (which I will add as added details, and I am sure you can hear the consending tone) and then deleted the question. I feel that she just didn't like to be proved wrong, and was upset that her little world was shattered.

Message: I am sorry if I offended you so. I appreciate you taking the time to correct my mistake. I am not saying I am a know it all, I was just interested in the opinions of others. However, I do not appreciate you making me look like an idiot in front of thousands of people, it's really disrespectful. Nevertheless, I appreciate your help and I admit I should of made my question less broad. Information mislead by my college professor. Have a Merry Christmas. God Bless.
PS: I would of voted you best answer, however honestly, I just don't think you answered my general question. Therefore, i'm disregarding it all together.

My response:
It's disrespectful to not have your facts straight and tell people who have a factual problem that they don't have a factual problem. You have a hard time being told that you are wrong and that is why you are disregarding my answer. Not because I didn't answer your question, but because you don't like being proven wrong. your question was unanswerable because the premise was incorrect and based on a falsity.
You put yourself out to be corrected when you didn't check your facts, and left yourself open to look like an idiot in front of thousands of people. If it wasn't me, it would have been someone else. Besides, you are the only person who cared and no one else will ever read the question.

Well I think that all you were trying to do is help her get her facts straight. And that she asked it on this crazy little thing called the internet. You were trying to be helpful. She got offended. Life moves on.
Good research on your part!
And hopefully she will understand
Doesnt sound like that big of a deal to me...

Sounds like tit-for-tat to me. However, without seeing her Q, it seems as tho she thought that she was correct but possibly had doubts so the Q came about. I am certain that I would have answered that Q with some facts as well because I never heard of a woman who faked PMS.

I'm so sorry that a person that supposedly asked a question to get information, was in reality trying to prove herself knowledgeable about something that she obviously didn't have enough information about...
Good for you to let her know, and if she's going to be ultra-sensitive about you correcting her, then perhaps she should check her facts before positing a question that she supposedly already has the answer to...
Good luck, and Merry Christmas!!!!!

I've read your question carefully.
My feeling is that she wouldn't like nobody else to know about her hidden problems and in what degree of illness... could it be??? Am I wrong?
Because as far as I know, only 5% of women seems to not suffer that.
Happy 2007 to you and your family

It upset me her saying that only 5% of women have PMS. Every woman I know has it and they don't just fake it.
I am glad you challenged her and proved her wrong, even if she is reluctant to admit it.

PMS is very real. I remember one time wanting to kill my boyfriend ( I did not follow through, I just went home). Three days later I started my period.
I also found that whenever my reaction was too strong it was time to buy Tampons.
I also found that when I found ugly guys sexy it was time to buy more tampons

You're opinion of me is none of my business. If you live that philosophy, what you just spent a lot of time & energy addressing would not have mattered. Her opinion does not matter . What bothers you is YOUR reaction to it.. I would suggest to all of us to not take ourselves so seriously. Life is much more enjoyable that way.
