At 6 months old, you're still feeding your child every 3 hours during the day, and possibly at MOST once during the night. Solids are being introduced (if approved by the doctor) for a few meals at a time. No cow milk yet though.

It really depends on if the baby is formula fed or breast fed. Formula fed babies tend not to eat as often as breast fed babies. It also depends on the baby, but by six months, all babies should start eating solids (baby food). Start with Level 1 foods, introduce one every 3 to 4 days (to rule out allergies), and feed food once a day at first and slowly increase to three times a day. No matter what, though, formula or breastmilk should still be the main source of nutrition, so always give formula or breastmilk with the food.
Just remember that every baby is different, so you need to find out the best system for your little one.
This is how it works with my son:
-He eats every 5 hours, though some days he'll eat every 4.
-At night he'll usually wake up once to eat, sometimes 2. Occasionally he won't at all.
-I usually give him the baby food first, then finish up with formula.
-He takes 8 ounces of formula when he doesn't have food, and will take 6 ounces when he does have food.
Hope this helps you!
