I would recommend a lot of rigorous physical exercise. Even though you asked about diet, I recommend exercise because exercise boosts mood and decreases appetite. Then for the junk food, only have it on special occasions or when it's free. myself I don't keep junk food in my house because I can't stop eating it.

Regarding the above person's comment about drinking water first - that doesnt work with most junkfood-a-holics. we have "two stomachs". one for water, one for food.

Everytime you want to reach for junk food, drink a big glass of water first. If you still want to snack, allow yourself a small handful just to satisfy your tastebuds, but don't eat any more than that. The water will make you feel full and a lot of times you probably won't even want the food after that.

The key is to not deprive yourself of anything. As soon as you say you can't have a certain food, you are going to want it more and then you are going to fall off the wagon and over eat. Don't give yourself that option. Fill up with water and then just take a couple bites of the food you want, no matter how bad it is.

Don't buy junk food at all......ever. Study about foods and read labels. Eating at McDonald's or Taco Bell or any fast food place grosses me out after reading about all the ingredients. You will want to avoid all the processed stuff and pesticides.......I really believe that is what causes cancer. Eat fresh organic fruit instead of potato chips. You will get used to it and find it satisfying after a while. When I feel starved and (used to want a burger and fries), I would have a banana and the hunger pangs would go away. You just have to change the way you think. Think about what certain foods do to your body......decide if they are nourishing or just fillers. Good luck

Reinforce the Idea that you are not hungry. Every time you see something you want to eat, look at it and tell yourself you are not hungry, tell yourself this & really believe it then start to eat. this will still require self control but it will help. I am not a doctor or a diatition but it works for me. Telling my self mentally that I am full before I eat which sends signals from my brain to my stomach letting me eat a small amount & be full.
