Im in NYC and would like to plan a trip to go skiing with a group of people and don't want to go too far [out of state is fine just not something outrageous]. Please recommend me some places or a good site that has reviews. I'd like to know everything from hospitality to how the actual snow was.

has reviews from people who've been @ the slopes, and if there aren't any good reviews- atleast it gives you a list of different slopes

jeez, what a bunch of baloney...down-thumb all those answers! Peak 'n Peak is on the other side of NY...8 hours away. W. Virginia?

Best options:

Hunter, NY
Greek Peak, NY
Belleayre, NY
Windham, NY
Gore, NY
Killington, VT

When I say best, I mean closest decent skiing, pretty much ranked closest to NYC to further away.

Google any of those for more information.

when you get more into it definatley go for the line afterbangs but if you want more for jumps then go for armada ar7's or moment renos you dont really need special poles or anything just something small and light boots, um go down to a local shop and have someone that knows about boots tell you about that and same with the bindings

Try 'Snowshoe' in West Virginia. Look 'em up on Google. Nice deep snow, good runs, beautiful scenery.

Peak and Peak is in NY, although I am not sure how far from NYC. But it is a good place for beginners and longtime skiers.

The place I would recommend for you and your friends to go skiing is the SNOWBIRD SKI RESORT in Snowbird, Utah. Here are the websites for the SNOWBIRD SKI RESORT:
