I've been there for the last 3 years or so, at first for about the first year and a half i didn't realize it, after that lost my friends, family relations, job, will to live, by alienating myself. it got to the point where i didn't care any more, i would wake up early & just stay in bed all day, then go to sleep and do the same the next day. The thing that worked for me is realizing there was no easy cure, I started excercizing in my room because I didn't like to leave the house or my room in fact after a month I forced myself to go outside & walk, every day starting from 30 min & eventually up to 1 & a half hours a day. after about 2 months it really made a diffrence, I heard about drug treatments but I wanted to try to use excercise first & leave drug therapy as a last resort. It worked for me, I am working now, have new freiends & some of my old friends. Stronger relationship with my family members & most important is I look foreward to waking up in the morning & living life again. I don't know how & why i became depressed but I thank god i am better now.

I dont know. Most people have loads of ideas of things that should help you, but they never seem to help. Things like reading, making new friends.. working out..

Those things never really seem to work though. People that are depressed dont have desire or motivation so the things above are hard to start, or stick to.

Have you tried making an appointment with your dr to just have him give you a check up and blood tests to make sure there isnt a medical reason for your depression? Also, to perhaps get on an antidepressant?

Good luck.

If you do not have the desire nor motivation, then how do you expect to make any progress. We have to always start with ourselves - in anything we do or think of doing. If you help yourself by taking the first step, then the rest will follow

You are to a good start. The fact you actually are asking the question and acknowledging you are depressed is good. Now seek a counselor or a doctor. Join a club or two. Get out. Excerise outdoors or join a gym. Most importantly, get outdoors and be physical.Ride a bike or jog or walk.....

I felt the same way. Honestly. I didn't do anything about it and then one day something happened that I was upset about. Something small, I can't remember what. But, I burst into tears. And then I couldn't stop. I knew that what was going on was more than I could handle on my own. I made an appointment with a doctor to go on antidepressants. They have helped me to feel better. So my advice is to make an appointment with the doctor.

I know what you feel. You probably need someone to care about you. you want someone to come and say, hey i'm not gonna let you suffer. That might not come along. the problem here, is that when you have no desire to get out of it, you can't. but where there is a will, there is a way.

Been there. Done that. Psychiatrist had to experiment with several medications before one worked. I know sometimes I couldn't muster up the energy to even wriggle my toes. Get help as soon as you can. If you have periods when you are out of depression you will minimize the feelings you have now. Print this out so you will remember it. Get help ASAP.

The sad truth is you have to do this for yourself. So until you do have the desire it won't change. You can do it when your ready.
